I am a technology executive. In 2006 I became the first Director of Open Source Strategy in the history of Microsoft. Presently I am a Principal AI Strategist at IBM following its acquisition of DataStax, a company built on Apache Cassandra.

I am a writer. Presently I am working on a book with the tentative title The Fierce Urgency of Co-intelligence: A practical guide to humane leadership with and for Generative AI. The introduction explains why.

I am a musician. Hard Times Hundred and One is my project to create 101 original Americana songs inspired by photographs from the Great Depression. You can find me on Spotify and other streaming services or my website.

I am an activist. I have volunteered my time to support fairer taxes, housing justice, and better policing.
